This apple pie recipe makes a traditional pie minus the fuss. Every bite of apple pie is sheer magic – first, the flaky crust and then the layer of warm, spiced apple filling. Mmmm! Simply mouth-watering…
4 cups apples (peeled and sliced)
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 unbaked pie shell
1/2 cup pecans
1 cup butter
1/2 cup melted butter
2/3 cup sugar
For the glaze: extra butter
Peel and slice the apples thinly. Next, soak the apples in the melted butter. Combine the flour, sugar and spices in a bowl. Meanwhile, remove the apples from the melted butter and coat them with the flour mixture. Place the coated apples along with any excess flour mixture in the pie shell. Spread a layer of butter on the top for a nice glaze. Bake at 400 deg. F for about 45 minutes or till the apples are cooked.
Serving suggestion: Serve a slice of warm apple pie with cold vanilla ice-cream or cold custard.
